Message from the President
October was quite an eventful and productive month for us. We were
pleased to contribute to the prestigious International Forum
for Sports Integrity (IFSI) at the premises of the IOC in
Lausanne. We congratulate the IOC for this significant initiative and
the excellent organisations which led to key conclusions. At the same time, at the beginning of
the month, we were glad to underline the importance of
cooperative sharing of best practices among Regulators,
Private and Public Stakeholders at the Brazilian Sports Integrity
Summit
The promotion of the Council of Europe Convention on Sport
Competition Manipulation is always high on our Agenda. We were
honoured to participate in the hearing of the Parliamentary
Assembly of the Council of Europe and conribute to the discussions, in
view of the upcoming PACE Report by MP Roland Büchel.
GLMS also presented the Macolin Convention
and its main legal provisions at the annual Conference of the
Institute of Hellenic and International Sports Law in Athens.
At an operational level, at the beginning of
the month we published our Q3 2019 Intelligence &
Monitoring Report.
Beyond the key fact and figures of our intelligence work over this
period, we also invite you to read key interviews with our members
and partners. Finally, we are glad that we will be part of one more
key integrity project that was successful under the ERASMUS+ 2019
call: the IntegriBall project that will be starting in January 2020.
Stay tuned and follow us for the latest news on our new GLMS digital

Yours
in Integrity,
Ludovico Calvi

Annual Conference of Institute for International &
Hellenic Sports Law
GLMS Deputy General Secretary, Vagelis
Alexandrakis, acted on October 18 as a speaker at the Annual Conference of
the Institute for International & Hellenic Sports Law in Athens.
Vagelis presented the legal aspects of the Council of
Europe Convention on Sport Competition Manipulations and the Follow-Up
Committee. He also presented the way various states have already developed
their national platform and there was a very interesting discussion with the
participants on how the Greek national platform could be developed.
The Greek General Secretariat of Sport has already
made significant steps towards the ratification of the Convention. The
ratification bill was open for public consultation last week and next week it
will be submitted to the Parliament! Many thanks to the Institute of
International & Hellenic Sports Law for the invitation!
